Sevenoaks History Hub was established on Facebook during the pandemic. Since then it has continued to share postcards and photos from the towns past, as well as memories and stories from followers.
This new website will help the Hub grow, bringing together local history news and information in one site. We’ll also be able to share longer posts, with guests writers, and expand what we share.
The History Hub will always be on Facebook, this is just a way of bringing you extra content on our fascinating town.
The Hub is run by Matthew Ball, an historian and genealogist based in Sevenoaks.
Since 2013 Matthew has run an award winning community history project on Sevenoaks in the Great War and now also runs a blog and publishes research on The Queen’s Own Royal West Kent Regiment during the conflict.
Matthew is passionate about local history and genealogy and has conducted research throughout the UK and abroad. He has also published two books on Sevenoaks during the Great War and is currently researching his next book.
In 2022 Matthew was elected an Associate Fellow of The Royal Historical Society.
